A Warm Welcome to June Bliss

Is there a story behind your book Starfish Street?
The story is set in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I love the town and thought it would make an interesting setting for a story. You may remember seeing it in The Goonies.

Which character in your new release most interested you while you wrote? Why?
Maggie did because she is the main character. She required the most attention.

What is your strangest habit?
I chew on my straws. My husband always finds the strange and unusual practice to be humorous, so I have used it in another one of my stories.

What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud?
So many things! I’m a giggler. Watching a funny movie will make me laugh until I cry.

What is your favorite season of the year?

Has some place you have traveled inspired something in your writing?
Yes, traveling is definitely inspirational, particularly because nature is always telling a story. Each place I go, I observe different aspects of nature. In this story Cannon Beach is obviously the inspiration.

Are there spiritual themes you like to write about?
Hope and perseverance.

Share a verse or Scripture passage with us that is special to you. (and why it's special)
Matthew 6:21
“For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”
The things of this world will pass away. There’s no sense in striving to conquer the temporary when the eternal is much more significant. I choose to treasure God first.

Is there anything special about your writing process?

Yes, my dog Sasha the Faithful Writing Companion is! We got her around the time I started putting more effort into writing. Ever since she was a puppy she has laid at my feet -- or at least in my office -- while I write. She thinks that going to the office is a part of her purpose in life – that and taking walks. You can see several pictures of her on Pinterest.

Most new college graduates are trying to figure out what they are going to do with their lives. That is just the case with Magnolia who goes by Maggie. She is a cynical, art graduate who has become bogged down with her life circumstances. She finds herself at home with her fragile, single mother when she receives a call from her great-aunt Lorraine.
Lorraine offers Maggie a summer job watching over her cottages in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Maggie accepts and her experience at the beach changes her life entirely. Maggie’s particular affections for the magnificence of creation and the kind people at the beach lead her to a new life guided by faith.

I would add OBEDIENCE to Hope and Perseverance. We hope for Heaven with Jesus, we persevere every day in our quest for obedience to our Savior's words. Looks like a good book. sm wileygreen1(at)yahoo(dot)com
