Inspirational Romance Writer Kimberly Rose Johnson

Welcome to the Book Loft, Kimberly! Is there a story behind your book The Christmas Promise?

The Christmas Promise is purely fictional. No part of the story comes from any real life event. My husband has family in Leavenworth and ever since he introduced me to the small WA town I’ve been enraptured. When I write I think of setting first and then I ask what if, then the story forms in my mind.

What started you on your writing journey?

I’ve always had an active imagination. One day I decided to sit down and write a book and that’s exactly what I did. LOL then I realized I had no clue what I was doing and spent the next several years studying the craft of writing.

What distracts you from writing the easiest?

That’s easy—the internet. I love email and can’t resist replying immediately when one pops in. When I go to do research for my wip (work in progress) I am often distracted because I have an email. Then I forget why I went on line in the first place.:)
What kind of books do you enjoy reading?

I love reading Christian romance, especially romance that has a comedic twist. Sandra Bricker is one of my favorites that includes comedy.
I also enjoy romantic suspense as long as it’s not too stressful. J One of my favorite authors that meets this criteria is Susan Sleeman. However there are several that I enjoy.

It's time for some fun. If you were a style of music, what style would you be?

Hmm. I’d have to say lyrical. I love pretty music and often imagine scenes when listening.

If you could paint or sculpt like a famous artist who would it be and why?

Thomas Kincade because I LOVE his work.

What is your favorite season of the year?

I think Fall. I love the smell of the air and all the colors.

I love the rustle of fallen leaves. What do you like most about the area where you live and/or grew up?

I like how the ocean is only an hour away, the mountains are an hour away and there are lots of lakes close by. Outdoor activities about, but if I want culture that’s only an hour away as well.

Are there things you put off doing because you dread them?

Of course. I hate talking on the phone, so if I have to call an schedule an appointment I tend to procrastinate.

Where is your favorite place to travel/vacation?

I once visited Alaska and loved it. I can’t wait to go back there someday. But Central Oregon is much more doable and I really enjoy going there.

Has some place you have traveled inspired something in your writing?

Absolutely. The Christmas Promise was inspired by the time I’ve spent in Leavenworth WA.  I also wrote several stories set in Central OR—but those sit on my computer never to see the light of day so to speak. J

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?

The next book in the series is due in June 2014 with the third book to follow in November of 2014. The titles aren’t yet set, but the working titles are Déjà vu of the Heat and A Time to Love.

Thanks for sharing with us today!
