June Foster Visits The Barn Door Book Loft

Welcome to the Barn Door Book Loft, June! We are so glad to have you here!

Question: Is there a story behind your book Deliver Us?
This book reflects my strong opinions on the subject of abortion. Thankfully, abortion has not affected me or any of my family members, yet the subject is one close to my heart.

Question: What started you on your writing journey?
After I retired from teaching, I discovered a story lurking in my head. This was quite unusual for me because I never wrote fiction or had the desire to do so. One day I happened to tell my daughter the story. She liked it and made the casual remark that I should write it. Her words were the spark the Lord used. I knew I was to write the stories God put on my heart.

Question: What is your strangest habit?
My teaching colleagues used to kid me about how I literally brought everything but the kitchen sink in my large purse. I always think I have to stuff my bag full of "things" just in case I might need them.

Question: What makes you smile and/or laugh out loud?
Sometimes when I see the hand of the Lord in my life or someone else's, it makes me laugh out loud at the wonder of our awesome God.

Question: What is your favorite season of the year?
When I was teaching, it used to be summer, because that was when I was out of school. But these days, I think it's spring because we see new life in all of nature and the temperatures are mild.

Question: What do you like most about the area where you live and/or grew up?
We just moved to Alabama. We chose not to travel full time in our RV anymore and bought a house. I think what I like the most are the spiritual and political climates here. There is a church on almost every corner. People love the Lord, like me.

Question: Where is your favorite place to travel/vacation in?
When we traveled full time in our RV, we were blessed to visit many, many areas of the US. It is so hard to say which was my favorite. I have to say, Hawaii is an amazing place to go because the temperatures are consistently pleasant year round, and you can smell flowers in the air all the time. Of course, we didn't take the RV there.

Question: Has some place you have traveled inspired something in your writing?
Question: What's your favorite meal with family and friends? (and feel free to share a recipe with us!)

Question: Are there spiritual themes you like to write about?
I love to write about characters who overcome issues in their lives. I've written about anger, obesity, addictive behavior, abortion, unforgiveness, homosexuality, and drug abuse.

Question: Share a verse or Scripture passage with us that is special to you. Romans 8: 38-39. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I love this passage because it gives me such confidence in knowing the Lord will never leave or forsake us.

Question: When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?
Ryan's Father will be out in January 2014, published by White Fire Publishing. There is no other book on the Christian market like it. A young Christian man who was raised by a less than moral mother and no father, discovers same sex tendencies. Though he loves the Lord with all his heart, he believes he's helpless in the face of his secret no one may know.

That makes me smile about the big purse. I used to put everything in my purse, so I would always the items I or others needed to use. I would feel bad if I didn't have the item another person needed. Thanks for having the giveaway.
