A Warm Welcome to Lena Nelson Dooley!

It's so wonderful to welcome multipublished author, Lena Nelson Dooley!

Lena, what started you on your writing journey?
In one word, God. Not only did He create me to be a writer, in 1984 He called me to write professionally. Your can read all about it on the About Me page of my website: www.lenanelsondooley.com

What distracts you from writing the easiest?
My husband. He’s the only person who has permission to bother me in my office, especially when I’m on deadline. Since he’s retired, he’s home all the time he’s not volunteering somewhere. So when he comes to ask me to go the movies, etc., if I’m not on a deadline (and sometimes when I am), I stop what I’m doing and spend time with him.

Spending time with family is important, I agree. So what kind of books do you enjoy reading?

I love Christian novels, almost all genres. I really hate to name authors or titles, because I’ll invariably leave out some important ones. But I’d love for you to visit my blog, where I interview Christian authors and promote their latest books. http://lenanelsondooley.blogspot.com

You do a great job promoting other authors. Tell us, which character in your new release most interested you while you wrote? Why?
I was fascinated by several characters and loved to watch them grow and develop in the book. Probably, both the hero and the heroine tied for being the most interesting. They both had a lot of growing to do.

For fun, if you were a style of music, what style would you be?

Contemporary Christian Worship music. I love the way that so many of the songs lift me to the very throne of God. And our church is home to several of the top Christian songwriters in the country. Most of them write the songs that my heart feels.

What is your strangest habit?

I’ve told my husband that if I were to be mentally ill, I’d have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. But I call myself a recovering perfectionist. It’s a long hard row to hoe. I even place my vitamin and mineral pills in a certain order on the cabinet or table before I take them. And they have to be straight. One thing this does is help me know if I’m taking all of them. I usually read while taking them, and I could forget one or another of them. I have to force myself not to straighten things that other people do.

Are there things you put off doing because you dread them?

Cleaning out my office. It becomes rather cluttered sometimes. And this doesn’t compute with the answer to the last question.

What's your favorite meal with family and friends?

Actually, I’ll eat almost anything when I’m with family and friends. I love spending the time with people and what we eat doesn’t matter. But I do love Tex-Mex, Italian, and American food. If you want a recipe, go to my web site and click on the recipes tab. You’ll find some recipes I’ve gotten from other places and changed, and many of the recipes I created.

Are there spiritual themes you like to write about?

All my books have one or more of these themes: forgiveness, bitterness, poor self-image, lack of commitment, inability to trust God.

Share a verse or Scripture passage with us that is special to you.

At various times in my Christian walk with the Lord, He has given different scriptures as a life verse for that season of my life. The latest one, which I’ve been pondering and applying to my life for several years is Philippians 3:10 That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. There are so many layers of meaning in those few words. But most important to me is: That I may know Him.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?
Catherine’s Pursuit is my last contracted book. However two editors are interested in another series. My agent and I expect a contract from one of them. And I will soon receive a contract on a totally different kind of project, but I can’t reveal anything about it right now. Soon.

Exciting news! Thanks for joining us.

OOPS Looks like you may have some spam in one of the above comments. :(

I love to read Lena's interviews and learn more about her! Love the OCD comment b/c I even line up my towels in order. My dad used to come up behind me when I was wiping the table or another household chore when I was a little girl and make me do it over and over again until that table was polished and you couldn't feel a thing on it. So I'm sure it stems from that.

As Lena already knows I loved the first two book in this series and reading the third one is a must for me! Thank you so much for the opportunity to win it!
