Welcome Back Tina Pinson

Welcome back to the Book Loft Tina! Is there a story behind Shadowed Dreams?

Shadowed Dreams, Shadow Series #2 is the continuation of the story of Matthew and Rebekah from When Shadows Fall. The whole series centers around the couple as they meet and fall in love and travel from the war torn East to Oregon. The Shadow Series was to be one long epic. But editors didn't want to take a chance publishing a 900 page book from an unknown. So I let it set for a time, and finally decided to clean it up and offer it as a series. I hope everyone will get as much enjoyment out of the series as I got out of writing it.

What’s the last thing you wrote?

I wrote a blog post for Christmas. Which will be out on the 26th of November.

What’s the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?

I have a file with short stories and poems from when I was a girl.

What’s your favorite genre of writing?

I like Historical stories set in the mid to late 1800's in the United States.

Who is the most annoying character you ever created?

I have two annoying characters. One, Adam, from, Then There was Grace, a 9/11 style catastrophe story coming out next year, was so annoying I had to tone him down before he'd be acceptable to read. Another from Shadowed Dreams, is Caroline, just think of Scarlet O'hara.

Which of your written plots is your favorite?

I love the Shadow Series. Probably because of my characters, and the fact that it was first novel that I started years before and finally was able to finish. But I like all my stories for differing reasons.

What’s the most unusual plot twist you ever wrote?

Well in Counting Tessa, first in a speculative fiction series, the character, finds out she's been living in the past, but she really holds the key to saving the future. And to save the future, she might just need to save Christ.

Do you believe in writer’s block? If so how often do you get it? How do you fix it?

Oh my goodness, I do believe in it, but I also know there are times when my imagination and creative spirit wants to work on something else, like drawing or woodworking.

When I get blocked, I try to write a little anyway. Right now it isn't so much a block as trying to promote and edit and still write.

Have you ever written fan fiction?

No not in the real sense, I was reworking some fairy tales, and Christmas stories.

Do you type or write by hand? Computer? Typewriter? Legal pad

I do both. I use a nicely sharpened #3 pencil, and a notebook or spiral paper to write on a lot. Then I put it into the computer. Sometimes I write on the computer.
I used to use the typewriter, my old Remington. Computer and Word Processing make things much easier.

What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will?

I will never write the great sex novel.

How many writing projects are you working on right now?

I'm doing a children's book that I wrote for my son thirty years ago. And four other books that I've been plugging away at.

What are your five favorite words?

Probably all those weasel words I'm supposed to take out. Just Kidding. I really can't say I have favorites. I like words I like Grace, and love. I like to learn new and strange words. So I use them. My children say I'm a walking dictionary. I don't know about that.

What character that you’ve created most resembles you?

Rebekah from the Shadow Series is fashioned after me. I always wondered what it would be like to live back when and I was kind of tomboy.

Do you ever write based on your dreams?

I write from my dreams a lot. The scene and characters show up in living color just begging to be put on paper.

Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?

No, I wish I could say that's because I'm pert near perfect in those areas and have no need to worry about it. NOT. I try to write and then go back and do edits. Don't always accomplish it, but it's nice to just type away and then fix things if necessary.

Where do you most like to write?

These days it's on the couch with my laptop, but I also go to my office and use the desk some. And sometimes when it's not so hot here is AZ I sit outside.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?

My next book, To Carry her Cross is due January 1, 2013. It's another historical that takes places in the mountains of Colorado, in the little mining town of Willow Creek. The mountains have been hiding the illusive gold for years, and someone is Willow Creek hopes they'll keep their secret too.

We all have our Crosses to Bear. Willow Creek, Colorado is a town built on the dreams of gold and secrets. Whose life will change forever if their secret Cross is ever revealed?

Dr. Harrison Caldwell -- who hopes the mountains will shelter him enough his past won't find him?

Mitchell Grover -- who hopes to win the mountain for the Lord, and might, if the townspeople would let him down his past?

Esther Warren -- who wants to be a doctor but can't forget the blood on her hands?

Crazy Joe -- a solitary figure who goes about his business and helping others like a finely tuned clock, only now someone is interested in the secret the old man of the mountains is hiding?

Cordelia Mason -- the town madam who knows many secrets, but her dream just might
put her out of business?

Now that does sound interesting!

Thank you for not aspiring to write "the great sex novel." I used to proof read and after returning several books partly proofed, my boss learned what books not to give me. Please enter my name for a copy of your book. djragno (at) hotmail (dot) com
