Welcome Back, Shannon

It's a pleasure having Shannon Vannatter with us. Now on to her interview!

What is your favorite scripture verse and why does it resound with you?

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

In your latest book, is there a story--an inspiration behind it that gave you the desire to write it?

When I pitched my first book in my Texas rodeo series to my editor, she said, “Why is it always the cowboy? Why not the clown? But then who would want to be a clown?”

I pulled a reason a guy would want to be a rodeo clown out of thin air and she liked it. So I had to write it.

Lol I love it! Do you have a favorite character in your book that is dear to your heart?

I really enjoyed writing Stetson Wright as a rodeo clown. I had fun with it. Lots of jokes about clowns and a guy wearing makeup to work. It was a bit of a challenge making him sexy. I first had the heroine meet him in full makeup, but decided that didn’t work. So, I rewrote it to where she meets him in normal cowboy gear and doesn’t know about his profession until later.

That could be a shocker for the poor heroine. I'll look forward to seeing how you handled it. Now, a couple of fun questions:

If you could choose a favorite meal, where would it be and with whom would you want to share it?

Olive Garden with my husband and son. Shrimp Caprese is my favorite, but they’re not big on Italian. They usually suffer through it for special occasions.

Where would you like to live permanently if you could have a choice? Why?

Either rural Arkansas (where I currently live) or rural Texas. I like wide open spaces and peaceful country living. My father-in-law lived on a rural Texas ranch until he passed and we loved visiting there.

Please tell us where readers can stay in touch with you and where to purchase your book.

I think a rodeo clown has a very heroic profession as well as dangerous! I like that the rodeo clown will be getting the attention instead of the bronc rider for a change. Happy writing!

Hey Pat,
The book is contemporary, but I hope you get the chance to read and enjoy it.

There definitely couldn't be a rodeo without the clowns.

Arkansas and Texas are my favorite states. It made perfect sense to set my first series in AR and this series in TX.

Thanks for the compliments. I hope you enjoy this series as well.

Ann, There's just something about cowboys.

Hey Jackie,
Thanks for the compliment. I hope you enjoy this series as much.

Thanks for stopping by.

Glad you enjoyed the interview. I realized I didn't answer part 2 of the first question. Duh! Must have been multi-tasking that day. I love that verse because, it's not about us, it's about Jesus.

I think rodeo clowns have definitely earned their contemporary title of bull fighter.

Glad you enjoyed the interview as much as I did.

I've been really happy with all my covers. Glad you like it.

Love those fans!

Hey Amy,
Technically, Barbour did this cover. They're doing covers and editorial through the end of the year, then the new HP owner, Harlequin will take over. And Love Inspired and Heartsong Presents will remain two different lines even though Harlequin owns them both. I'm glad HP's will still be around.

Another great Shannon book. I love the sound of that. Thanks for making my day.
