with Penny Zeller

Welcome back to the Barn Door Book Loft, Penny!
What do you want readers to take away from the book?

My passion is to write books that impact lives for Christ. Readers can expect to share in Hailee’s pain and sorrow, as well as the joy she experiences. They will watch as her faith wavers and her heart breaks at the losses she experiences in life. They will share with Nate as he struggles to release to the Lord burdens he was never meant to carry. My books are character-driven, and as such, throughout the book and with a variety of characters, readers will catch a glimpse of struggles with forgiveness, Salvation, rededication to Christ, and the hope of a new life.

What kind of books do you enjoy reading?
I love Christian romance – my favorite is historical, but I also enjoy a good contemporary romance! The Bible is my very favorite to read and I also enjoy reading and participating in Bible studies.

If you were a style of music, what style would you be?
Ooh, good question! I would be contemporary Christian music with a fast beat and an awesome message that brings the listener closer to their Savior. :)

What is your strangest habit?
This is really weird, and I don’t even realize I’m doing it until my husband starts laughing and reminds me. Anyway, I draw loopy loops and write letters with my fingers whenever I’m stressed. I know, weird!

Are there things you put off doing because you dread them?
Yes, cleaning the bathroom comes to mind, *grins*

What's your favorite meal with family and friends?
Because I have multiple food allergies, I’m a bit limited, but I do enjoy cheese enchiladas and chips and salsa at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

Share a verse or Scripture passage with us that is special to you.
I would have to say that Psalm 91 is the most special to me. During a time of difficulty after a car accident, I read and mediated on Psalm 91 constantly. I also love Psalm 19:14.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?
My most recent book is Hailee and it was just released on September 6. I’m excited about this book because it’s the final book in my Montana Skies Historical Romance Series and it takes readers on a return trip to visit those who call Pine Haven, Montana their home. Following is the blurb:

For years, orphan Hailee Annigan was just a ragamuffin in the Cincinnati streets, stealing food to keep her two younger brothers fed. Her thievery landed her in a home for delinquent youngsters, where her life was changed, thanks to her teachers. Now, nineteen-year-old Hailee excitedly heads to Montana to be a teacher, yet she's still plagued by her shameful past and the fear of never seeing her brothers again.

Based on his upbringing in high-society Boston, no one would have guessed that Maxwell Nathaniel Adams Jr. would attend seminary and become a church pastor in rugged Montana. Even now, Nate's parents refuse to put aside their own plans for his future and accept his calling.

When their paths converge, an immediate attraction draws Hailee and Nate together, even as the pressures and demands of others pull them apart. Can the unlikely pair come to terms with their pasts and face the future together?

You can purchase Hailee from Amazon.

Penny is giving away a copy of Hailee. To be entered in the book giveaway, leave a comment. You can enter the book giveaway twice--once on each spotlight post.

Hi Kelly ~ Psalm 91 is such a wonderful Psalm - thank you for sharing! Please thank your husband for his sacrifice to ensure our freedoms. And thank YOU for your role in that. I know that being a military wife isn't easy.
