with Kim Watters

Welcome to the Barn Door Book Loft, Kim!
What started you on your writing journey?

When I was a teenager, I used to read my sister’s Harlequin Romance books. I always rewrote the ending if I wasn’t satisfied with how the author did it and knew one day I wanted to write from them as well. I’d always wanted to write a book, but finally found the time after I moved to Arizona.

What distracts you from writing the easiest?
My kids and my day job. :)

What kind of books do you enjoy reading?
I love reading the other Love Inspired authors, as well as women’s inspirational fiction. I do read outside my genre and enjoy paranormals, romantic comedies and some romantic suspense.

Which character in your new release most interested you while you wrote?
I loved writing about Abby. Every time I turned around she was there with another piece of background information that just had to put in the story. She’s tough and vulnerable and all she wants is a home, not necessarily the cat who wanders into her life or the general contractor with his own baggage. In the end though she finds out it’s not the house that makes a home but the people she chooses to share it with.

If you were a style of music, what style would you be?
Classic Rock. Enough said.

What is your strangest habit?
Do I have to answer? Okay. I put ice in my coffee and I’m a notorious list maker. I make lists of lists!

Are there things you put off doing because you dread them?
House cleaning? Laundry? Edits? Need I say more? :)

What's your favorite meal with family and friends?
Our family’s favorite meal is Friday night Pizza. We order a large ½ cheese and ½ pepperoni and watch a family movie together.

Are there spiritual themes you like to write about?
I seem to write about forgiveness a lot. I guess that means I have some forgiveness issues I need to work through myself.

Share a verse or Scripture passage with us that is special to you.
“The Will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.” It’s special to me because my life has been in turmoil lately with a lot of changes and I have to rely on God’s strength and power to see me through and know that He is there for me.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?
My latest release came out June 1 and is already off the shelves but you can still order it through B&N and Amazon. My current manuscript is still in the writing stage and I don’t have a release date yet, but it deals with a child with leukemia.

I put off household chores all the time. But when I ultimately get to them, I reward myself for my accomplishment.
