with Lynette Eason

Welcome to the Barn Door Book Loft, Lynette!
People talk about life before children—what was your life before writing?

Life before writing was pretty simple. Life before writing WAS life before children. LOL. I started writing when my first child was 9 months old – or somewhere around that time period. So, pretty much before that, I taught school and hung out with my husband and friends. Pretty unexciting.

What is your most difficult writing obstacle, and how do you overcome it?
Fatigue. For some reason I get so sleepy sometimes and as a result, my brain shuts down earlier than I would like. And I think it’s because I’ve let important things like exercise and eating right slide off the priority list. I’m working on fixing that, though. I’ve started exercising and doing a little better in the healthy eating department. I just hope it’s not too late!

What book have you recently enjoyed reading?
I recently read Terri Blackstock’s newest one, Vicious Cycle and loved it! I’ve also just downloaded Mark Mynheir’s newest release, The Corruptible. Can’t wait to start it!

Which character in your new release most interested you while you wrote?
The bad guy always interests me. I’m not sure why and I’m sure my mother would be worried about that. I guess I just have to spend so much time researching the psychology behind the twisted minds I write about.

If you were a dessert, what would you be?
Chocolate, anything chocolate because chocolate is everyone’s favorite. I had mice in my pantry. (Gross, I know. Thank God for exterminators.) So anyway, you know what they got into? The Hershey’s kisses and the packets of hot chocolate. No lie. Totally serious. Wish I’d taken pictures of it.

If you were to find a purple polka-dotted monster in your kitchen one morning, how would you respond?
I would ask it how much it charged for babysitting because I had some writing to do.

Tell us about one of your favorite memories or moments in your life.
Some favorite memories are my childhood. My parents gave my brother and I the perfect childhood. We went on vacation with friends and family. Summers were spent running barefoot through the yards and playing tag and every other game we could come up with. It was a great time.

What's one of your dreaded things to do?
Bills.

Are there spiritual themes you like to write about?
Forgiveness, justice, unconditional love, conquering fear, the pain gossip can cause.

What is the Lord teaching you, or recently taught you?
God is always teaching me something whether I want to learn it or not. Recently is that He is in control of everything. Sure, He expects me to do my part, but ultimately, everything that happens to me is because it’s part of His plan. Some of that is easier to accept than others.

When is your next book due out and can you tell us about it?
A Killer Among Us is due out May 1, 2011 from Revell.
