Meet Elisa Marie Crites (Part 2)

A guest spotlight by Shellie Neumeier.

Welcome to day two with Elisa Marie Crites. Elisa penned Secrets Under The Midnight Sun and has been gracious enough to share with us a little bit about her book and her journey.
Who did you write your book for?
Writing is hard work. Many times during the process of this book I grew frustrated and wanted to quit. One day as I drove from my office to teach a financial class I found myself lamenting to God again that it was too difficult. I sensed a question being asked of me, “If you knew even two lives would be changed by this story, would you choose to make the sacrifices you’ve made to get it to print?”

I didn’t have to think about the answer. Of course I would.

Who should read this book?
Anyone who has longed for the love of a father, or is curious to learn a bit about Alaska. I almost answered this question saying women who enjoy reading Young Adult books and girls, but remembered a man who contacted me recently saying he enjoyed my book and wept a couple of times while reading it. By the way, if you go to my website, www.elisamariacrites.com you can read the original first chapter of the book and watch the book trailer.

How much of your writing is based on your own experience as a child or teenager?
Oh wow. Do I want to answer this? I longed for the love of a father and to feel safe. Freddie learning about God
being her Abba is straight
from my heart.

What's your favorite book turned movie?
I think that would have to be Bridge to Terabithia. I cried when I read the book. I cried when I watched the movie. I enjoyed reading the book, Marley and Me, while on a trip. On one flight I couldn’t stop laughing and on the next flight I was sobbing. I had planned to see the movie, but it came out about the time that Max, my boxer/pit bull was stolen, and I couldn’t bear to go see the movie.

What's the one question that no one ever asks you and you wish they would? (With answer, please!)
The question: Would you like a personal shopper to pick out and buy all your clothes for you?
My answer: YES!!!! (I hate shopping for clothes and have a hard time budgeting for an activity that I find equivalent to a toothache.)
Secrets Under the Midnight Sun can be purchased from Amazon.

Thank you for joining us today. Elisa is giving away a copy of Secrets Under the Midnight Sun. To be entered in the book giveaway, leave a comment. You can enter the book giveaway twice--once on each spotlight post.
